Community Outreach

…comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.
II Thessalonians 2:17

Community Ministry Dinner – SCUMC Community Ministry Team provides a hot, home-cooked meal on the third Thursday of each month to anyone in the community. These meals are served from September until May. Everyone is welcome! The November meal is served on Thanksgiving Day. If you would like to serve in this worthwhile ministry, please call 423-365-6324 and you will be put in touch with the team.

GROW Ministry – GROW is an acronym for “God Rewards Our Work”. GROW works to cultivate a commitment among those who are willing to be involved in outreach once a month. With different levels of participation, GROW involves more of our church members in outreach. Participants can be involved in outreach once a month through visitation, letter writing, prayer, or phone calling.  GROW meets on the third Thursday of every month from 6-7 PM in the Fellowship Hall.

Helping Hands Ministry – Volunteers are available for various handyman, home repair services, or help with daily life for anyone in need in our community. Call the church office at 423-365-6324 for further information or to request some helping hands.

Easter Sunrise Service – Each year at sunrise on Easter Sunday, SCUMC holds a worship service at Veteran’s Park open to the community, followed by breakfast in our Family Life Center.  Anyone in the community is welcome to come and experience this joyful celebration of our Risen Lord!

Vacation Bible School – Every year in June, SCUMC holds Vacation Bible School, where children are taught and shown the love of Christ through a different theme each year.  All are welcome!  See the Children’s Ministries page for more information.

Fall Festival with Trunk ‘N Treat – Spring City United Methodist Church hosts a Fall Festival every year on October 31, for the entire community.  Children can play games and earn tickets to redeem for prizes, get their picture taken with a Halloween theme, and enjoy a meal and snacks all in a safe and wholesome environment.  The festival culminates in the Trunk ‘N Treat event, where children receive candy and the whole family can enjoy the fun and fellowship.  All are welcome!

Facility Use – The Family Life Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 1 PM for walking.  This is a great place to walk in a climate-controlled area.  We welcome all people of the community.

Spring City United Methodist Church also offers the use of its building as a community service to be used as a meeting place for non-profit organizations or individuals wishing to use our facilities. Sharing our building is important to us, and some of the organizations who use it include:

  • TVA Retirees
  • Grandview Twirlers
  • Kiwanis Club
  • Spring City Chamber of Commerce
  • Women’s Clubs

Use of our facilities is arranged through the church office with the sponsorship of a church member, and further information can be obtained by calling the church office at 365-6324 or emailing at scumc@volstate.net.
